Mr. Smith attended Southern Methodist University from 1981-1985, graduating Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa with a BA in Political Science and a minor in Economics. He received an SMU Political Science Scholarship to participate in a program at the American University in Washington, D./C., including work as an aide for then U.S. Congressman, now Tarrant County Judge Tom Vandergriff (1983). He attended the University of Texas School of Law, graduating with Honors in 1988. Mr. Smith graduated from Trinity High School in Euless, Texas, in 1981, where he was President of his senior class. He was named Trinity High School “Alumni of the Year” for 1995-96..
